Is the mBIOTA Elemental protocol covered by insurance?

Insurance doesn't always cover elemental diets, but you can support your patients' coverage or reimbursement claims with a signed Letter of Medical Necessity, an itemized receipt upon request, or HSA/FSA payment through our Truemed partnership.

Can patients continue taking supplements and medications?

Continuing medications and supplements is your call, but check our nutritional panel to avoid over-supplementation and avoid fiber-containing supplements that can undercut the therapy.

How to transition patients of the elemental diet?

The reintroduction phase is critical for lasting results—share our 7-day return to food guide with patients and recommend the Low Fermentation Eating (LFE) diet for ongoing maintenance.

Are there any contraindications or side effects?

mBIOTA Elemental is not recommended for patients under the age of 12, patients who are pregnant or nursing, or patients with blood sugar conditions—including diabetes, pre-diabetes, or any history of unstable blood sugar regulation.
